Over 40 and Fabulous

Some perks come with age; when we are younger, I think we care a lot more about what others think about us. I am not going to pretend that I am young or in my thirties anymore; I am just going to enjoy the last year or so of my forties. There comes a point in our lives that we stop dressing for everyone else and what they think, and we start dressing for ourselves and what makes us feel good about ourselves. Just because we are getting older doesn't mean we have to look older! There are a few links below, I am an affiliate for some of them, so that means when you purchase through my link I make a small profit at no additional cost to you!

When I was younger, I can remember hearing about the "rules" that women were supposed to follow when they got older. Why is there a magic age that society has decided that women reach that they should no longer wear their hair long and need to cut it short? I am a firm believer in wearing something if it makes you feel good about yourself, if you still look good with long hair, wear it long! Frankly, I look awful in short hair, and I don't think being older will help with that at all! Lol!

I love that women in their 40's, 50's, and beyond are also following fashion trends. When you are around long enough, you might even see trends come back around! I mean, aren't "Mom" jeans a thing now? Wide leg pants, bell bottoms, jumpsuits, and rompers, all of these were in style when I was younger and have all come back around. I remember this plaid jumpsuit that I had that zipped up the front; it was my favorite!

There are a lot of "rules" society thinks women that are 40 and older should follow. Just to name a few: cut your hair short, don't wear short skirts, don't wear sleeveless tops, only wear one-piece bathing suits, and don't wear leggings as pants. The list could go and on. I would like to think that everyone can live by the same "rules": wear what you feel comfortable in, and you feel like you look good in. I also love the saying that my parents used to tell me, "if you wouldn't do it or wear it in front of us, then you probably shouldn't," That should be the guiding light for everyone!

What is your opinion on what society has told women over 40 about fashion?
